This does make consumers hesitate in getting the Slingshot because you do need a motorcycle license to operate but it has its benefits. Passengers must also follow all motorcycle laws, which includes wearing a helmet. With that being said, that it is classified as a motorcycle, drivers must have a motorcycle license to operate it. This allows for the Slingshot to have more performance equipment like pinion steering with double wishbone suspension, coil over springs and a sway bar. ![]() Thus, allowing the Slingshot to enter the market as a motorcycle. Part of the reason why it is classified as a motorcycle is because it doesn’t come with airbags, bumpers, crash protection, a collapsing steering column and other car safety equipment. It has an open cockpit for passengers with small windshield, which gives it that motorcycle feel. The Polaris Slingshot looks like a car to most people’s eyes because it has three wheels, two in the front and one in the rear, and uses a tilt-steering wheel to maneuver the vehicle with waterproof seats. The Slingshot is Polaris’s first pure pavement vehicle. The intriguing part about the Slingshot is that it is not classified as a car but as a motorcycle. However, Polaris released their new exotic looking “car” called the Slingshot. Their vehicles are all known for the tough off-road conditions like mud and snow. The company Polaris is mostly known for their power sport vehicles like motorcycles and ATVs.
